As Managing Director of The Raven’s Mouth, Melanie Fae Garrett is a "boots on the ground" force with thirty years’ experience in rural business development for entrepreneurial startups and small business owners. She partners with organizations whose missions contribute to the empowerment of rural communities in which all stakeholders - individuals, groups, and the natural environment - benefit.
Committed
She is committed to working with individuals and business owners identifying resources to improve their livelihood during times of economic distress. During the 2015-2018 Northern California Firestorms, Melanie partnered with American Red Cross, Seigler Springs Community Redevelopment Association, and Community Development Services delivering post-disaster recovery programs to the local residents and business owners who suffered severe loss during each wildfire season.
Collaborative
Prior to and during Covid-19, TRM again partnered with Community Development Services. Together they served as an SBDC Affiliate of the Northern California SBDC Finance Center. Melanie functioned as the SBDC affiliate program authority providing organizational management for service delivery of Covid Relief and Recovery assistance to Lake and Colusa County small businesses.
Resourceful
Her business acumen, experience, and resourcefulness have proven invaluable identifying barriers to success, creating customized business and recovery plans for individuals, and managing the data tracking and reporting of those plans.
Her passion creating vibrant, healthy communities is clearly expressed through thoughtful collaboration and coordination of resources to develop culturally appropriate solutions between service providers and the business community.
She continues economic recovery efforts for northern California, and is launching services for North Georgia, Piedmont and Western NC rural communities.
